Bannan Temple

Bannan temple has located in Bannan village, Kanthour 2 commune, Bannan district, in the south of Battambang province and distances about 24 km from Battambong city. Bannan temple is a unique historical site and an ancient temple built in pre-Angkorian period.



Architecture
Bannan Temple has a rectangular and shape of 60 meters long and 40 meters wide, with 5 towers,
four towers representing four major continents or four major towers, 25 meters high, representing of Someru Mountain.


Bannan Temple is the unique architectural monument of King Ouktithvorman in 1050 and completed by King Chey Chetha II in 1112. The temple was built on the top of the mountain that has a natural forest, 75 meters high from the ground, made of sandstone and stone surrounded by sandstone mixed with stone and in the pre-Angkor style.
